NEXT SALON: March's Crime Salon

Tuesday the 29th of March, 2022, 6pm, Live and on Zoom For our March Salon, we’ve invited two local writers well-known to the Salon, to talk about crime... that is, writing crime.

Once again we will be holding a hybrid Salon so that those who cannot attend in person may still join in over Zoom.

As usual the Outhouse are hosting us, and we will be in the upstairs Function Room. There will be fewer restrictions by this time, but we ask people to be conscious of those less comfortable with mingling.

Our Guest Authors at the ‘formal’ part of the evening, which will be livestreamed, will be Stuart Johnstone and Claire Askew.

Stuart’s first book, Out in the Cold was released in 2020, published by Alison & Busby, and the second, Into the Dark, appeared the following year. Claire, who is also well known as a poet, wrote All the Hidden Truths (Hodder, 2018) and her new book, A Matter of Time, is out this very month.

Copies of their books will be available to buy on the night.

As always, there will be a wine reception, and plenty of time before the presentation begins. We will open the zoom at 6.45, and will welcome our guests at 7pm. Online attendees are welcome to hang around in the zoom for more informal chatter, which we can monitor. We’ll continue to mingle and chat, and if anyone has information to share we will have Notes of Interest. How it works... 6.pm: Wine Reception at the Outhouse 6.45: Open the Zoom meeting (check for tech issues) 7.pm: Welcome Guest Authors

7.35 Questions and Notes of Interest

7.45 Live Mingling, and Zoom chat*

Tickets are available from Eventbrite – please state which ticket type you require as numbers will be limited. We will send a zoom invitation to all attendees anyway.

All Salon Events are free. We invite a small donation (£3) for the glass of wine, or encourage people to buy us a coffee to help fund our work. We look forward to seeing you in person or in the zoom-room!

*We acknowledge that some people prefer to attend the Zoom without video, so we invite people to use the ‘comments’ section to give input, paste relevant links, and ask questions. We encourage attendees to say ‘bye’ if they so wish when departing! We will save any links from the comments to share to our mailing-list and social media, and we will not be recording the zoom.
