NEXT SALON: June’s Bookshop Salon from Your Home

Tuesday the 29th of June, 6pm, on Zoom

We warmly invite you to this month’s Literary Salon, which comes hot on the heels of Indie Bookshop Week, during the flaming month of June (if only!) If you can’t stand the heat, you don’t need to go out: our Salon from Your Home is on Zoom

For our June Salon we will be talking about some of our favourite places: Bookshops. We will be welcoming some of Edinburgh’s Independent booksellers, and hopefully hearing about bookshops further afield. Bring your own tales and recommendations.

So why the interest in bookshops – apart from the obvious – you may ask?

In case no-one has spotted, in collaboration with Edinburgh Napier University we are producing our own book, Lost, Looking & Found – an anthology of writing from our friends and members. We will be launching it in August this year.

In the lead-up to this momentous occasion, each month we are introducing some of the writers featured in our book. Our featured writers for June include Seán Martin, who was chosen from the ‘blind’ submissions, and Srishti Chaudhary who was our Guest Author in July, 2019 when she launched her first novel, Once Upon a Curfew.

We look forward to catching up with Srishti, and hearing about some of the other writers in Lost, Looking & Found.

As always, the formal event will end after some participation and sharing of information, after which you are welcome to hang around in the zoom for more informal chatter. There will be an opportunity to join break-out rooms, and people can stay for as long or short a time as they wish.

How it works...

6pm: Welcome and Introduction.

6.20: Presentation: Edinburgh Bookshops – and beyond!

6.35: Questions and Discussion

6.40: Introduction: Seán Martin

6.50: Welcome Back: Srishti Chaudhary

7.05: Questions and Comments*

7.15: End of ‘formal’ Event - break-out rooms begin!

Please stick around for a drink and a chat (nb, provide your own drink!)

*We acknowledge that some people prefer to attend the Zoom without video, so we invite people to use the ‘comments’ section to give input, paste relevant links, and ask questions. We encourage attendees to say ‘bye’ if they so wish when departing! We will save any links from the comments to share to our mailing-list and social media, and we will not be recording the zoom.

Here is the link to get tickets for the event. As always, they are free, and for those who would rather not register with Eventbrite we can always provide the zoom-link.

While all events are free, we encourage people to buy us a coffee to help fund the work of Edinburgh Literary Salon.

We look forward to seeing you in the zoom-room.
