NEXT SALON: January Burns Night Literary Salon

Tuesday the 25th of January, 2022, 6pm, Live and on Zoom Our January Salon falls around Burns Night, so we uphold the tradition of inviting StAnza Poetry Festival, plus a wee nod to The Bard.

Now that the year is not-so-new, and hopefully Omicron has subsided, we will be holding a hybrid Salon so that those who cannot attend in person may still join in over Zoom. Once again, our friends at the Outhouse are going to host us, and we will ensure measures keep people as socially-distant as they are comfortable with.

We will be in the upstairs Function Room, and there will be separate tables so people can sit in smaller groups. We encourage attendees to wear masks when moving around, but obviously not when drinking or playing the bagpipes. Our guests will be from StAnza, and we will introduce Adam from the new Leith bookshop, Argonaut Books, to tell us what’s happening at the foot o’ the walk

As always, there will be a wine reception before the presentation begins. We will open the zoom at 6.45, and will welcome our guests at 7pm. Online attendees are welcome to hang around in the zoom for more informal chatter, which we can monitor. We’ll continue to mingle and chat at the Outhouse, and if anyone has information to share we will have Notes of Interest. How it works... 6.00pm: Wine Reception at the Outhouse 6.45: Open the Zoom meeting 7.00: Welcome Annie Rutherford, StAnza Poetry Festival 7.15: Guest Poet from StAnza Festival 7.25: Introduce Adam Barclay, Argonaut Books 7.35: Address to a Haggis and Notes of Interest 7.45: Live Mingling, and Zoom chat*

Tickets are available from Eventbrite – please state which ticket type you require as numbers will be limited. We will send a zoom invitation to all attendees anyway.

All Salon Events are free. We invite a small donation (£3ish) for the glass of wine at the reception, or encourage people to buy us a coffee to help fund our work. Don’t forget our lovely anthology of writing from our friends and members, Lost, Looking & Found. You can purchase a copy from our shop. We look forward to seeing you in person or in the zoom-room!

*We acknowledge that some people prefer to attend the Zoom without video, so we invite people to use the ‘comments’ section to give input, paste relevant links, and ask questions. We encourage attendees to say ‘bye’ if they so wish when departing! We will save any links from the comments to share to our mailing-list and social media, and we will not be recording the zoom.
