Tuesday the 27th of January, 2025, 7pm, Live and on Zoom

This month we celebrate Burns as usual, while sharing thoughts on poetry language and style with some of our poet friends from the Salon.
January has flown by, and some of you will be busy preparing for Suppers to celebrate a certain Rabbie Burns. At our Salon this month we will have our annual homage to The Bard, and look ahead to StAnza Festival and other poetry goings on in Notes of Interest.
For our presentation, some of our Salon regulars, old and new, will share their poetry, and we will have a discussion on how they choose and use the language and style they write in. We will encourage others to participate, and envisage an informal session of sharing leading naturally - and poetically - into continued mingling over the evening
We’ll be at The Outhouse again, and after the reception from 6.30, we’ll livestream the presentation on Zoom at 7pm, lasting around 30 minutes.
How it works...
6.30: Doors Open – reception in the Function Room at the Outhouse
6.50: Open the Zoom meeting (details emailed to all ticket-holders)
7.00: Welcome, and Introduction
7.05: Presentation: Discussion and sharing poetry and style.
7.30: Notes of Interest, then mingling and blether!
Registration can be found on Eventbrite - it's free to register for all of our events.
Sadly we are no longer able to offer a glass of wine to people on arrival, but we hope to re-continue this tradition in the future.
We ask for donations for the glass of wine and encourage people to buy us a coffee to help fund our work. If you can’t afford to donate, you are still welcome. Our two anthologies are on sale here, and books will be available to purchase on the night. We look forward to seeing you in person or in the zoom-room.
Accessibility Notice
Edinburgh Literary Salon is open to all those with an interest in all aspects of Literature, whether professional or personal, and to all parts of the industry: writers, publishers, booksellers etc. All are welcome, and events have free registration. While we aim to hold some events at accessible venues, our regular salon is in an upstairs room at The Outhouse. For this reason, we livestream most events. If there is a problem accessing zoom, we will do what we can to assist. We strive to ensure adequate audibility, and straightforward registration. We invite positive feedback on how we can improve, within our limitations as a non-funded organisation. We welcome open conversation.
