NEXT SALON: January (StAnza) Salon

Updated: Jan 21

Our January Salon traditionally focuses on Poetry, being the Month of The Bard’s Birthday, so once again we welcome StAnza Poetry Festival!

Back at our regular home, The Outhouse, our January Salon will focus on poetry this January, despite being a little later than Burns Night as we reach the end of the month. We’ve had a long and fruitful friendship with StAnza Poetry Festival which runs in March, and this year we’re delighted to welcome Ryan Van Winkle, the new Artistic Director of this great event.

We're also delighted to have, as this month's featured writer from The Golden Hours, Zambian poet Musenga Katongo. In 2022 we held a Story Slam at Argonaut Books, and Musenga was our Slam Champion. Obviously he won't be coming all the way from Zambia this time, but we can do this through the power of technology!

After the usual drinks reception from 6.30, we’ll livestream the presentation on Zoom at 7pm, lasting around 35 minutes. We will focus on other poetic shenanigans too, as we look ahead to what’s going on in the poetry world in 2024.

How it works...

6.30: Doors Open – drinks reception in the Function Room at the Outhouse

6.50: Open the Zoom meeting (details are emailed to all ticket-holders)

7.00: Welcome, and introduction to Musenga Katongo

7.15: Presentation of StAnza Festival, 2024

7.35: Notes of Interest and Information

7.45: Further mingling and blether

Registration for the event is now open on Eventbrite

It is free to register for all of our events. We invite donations for the glass of wine, or encourage people to buy us a coffee to help fund our work. If you can’t afford to donate, you are still welcome. Our two anthologies are on sale here, and books will be available to purchase on the night. We look forward to seeing you in person or in the zoom-room.
